The Oakhouse is the main indoor gathering place, graceful and comfortable: fully insulated and heated! It includes an internal dining area, a 21′ x 21′ group room, lean-to veranda dining area, open sleeping loft for 12 people, a group leaders’ bedroom, three other double bedrooms, showers and an indoor composting loo. Heating by wood-burning stove, lighting by low-voltage solar electricity. Foam mattresses are provided: just bring a sleeping bag!
There is also a spacious kitchen, which was fitted in 2013 with a 6-burner range size propane gas cooker, a small gas fridge, storage cupboards, twin sinks and crockery and utensils for at least 24 people. Outside this is a new decked area with walkway to the group room.
Just outside the Oakhouse is an outdoor cooking area including a barbeque.
The Longhouse was one of our earliest buildings, and has been recently refurbished. Two sleeping lofts upstairs can accommodate 7 people in total. On the ground floor, the Library has two single beds and can be used as a small lounge or meeting room.
The Longhouse is heated with a woodburning stove. It also has a cosy drying room/sauna, and two showers. There is low-voltage lighting throughout.
This is a large, covered circular space, diameter 27′ (8.2m), which was completely rebuilt in 2012 with a vaulted roof and no central support pillar. The new entrance takes the spirit of the building deeper into the Wood. With an earth floor, it has a stone fireplace/altar, and is well suited to dancing, rituals and other group sessions. Can also be used for undercover sleeping.
Our two user-friendly composting loos have received high praise for comfort and pleasant views!
